Polycarbonate panels are being used more and more frequently nowadays and it is certain that this trend of increasing popularity will be maintained in the next few years. It should be noted that this plastic is basically indestructible and, if used well, can also be very attractive. There is no denying, however, that many of us do not know what to look for when purchasing such boards. So what factors should we pay attention to when deciding on such a choice?
Cellular or solid?
First of all you need to answer the question what kind of sheets they should be. We distinguish here between sheets of cellular and solid polycarbonate. However, it is not easy to choose the better one. We must remember that the panels made of solid polycarbonate are more durable and lighter. The advantage of chambered polycarbonate, however, is its lower price.
We should also refer to the light transmission. There are three types of panels on the market, i.e. colourless, milk and tan. Obviously, the darker the panel you choose, the less light it lets through. The same applies to their thickness. Thinner panels let more light through. Let us note here that the permeability itself, depending on the panel, may vary from thirteen to even ninety percent. So as we can see, the differences are really big here. Of course, most people value the higher permeability panels more highly because they use them for all kinds of skylights.
